Haute Route Itinery

DAY 1 On the first day we will ascend the famous Agil d Midi for a breathtaking view of Mount Blanc prior to skiing the Vallee Blanch. This ski run is known the world over for it's six thousand foot descent down glaciers and through icefalls. We will picnic on the descent and then catch the historic train back to Chamonix.
Day 2 This will be a training and acclimatization day. We will spend the day on the Grand Montets practicing crevase rescue as well as doing avalanche training and a snow school. We will also make sure there is plenty of time for skiing as this a one of France's best ski resorts.
Day 3 We will use the trams to start the traverse and therefore begin the day with a long ski run. We will then go through the Col d'Chardonay on our way to Trient. The Col d' Chardonay involves an exciting 70M lower.
Day 4 This is another big ski day. From Trient the route is almost all down to La Fouly. There is 1800 meters of ski descent on terrain that invariably holds excellent spring snow.On the Classic Route we will ski a long ski run down to the small Swiss town of Champex. From here we will be transported to the town of Bourge St. Pierre where Napolean overnighted on the seige of italy.
Day 5 Today we climb and ski to Grande St. Bernard. This is a 10th century monastery where we will spend the night. On the Classic line we will ski up to the Valsorey Hut with spectactular views of Velan
Day 6 From the Monestary we regain the alpine. Once in the alpine we will ascend a narrow corridor and up to the Valsorey hut. From here there is a fantastic view of Velan. On the Classic Route this day is spent going over to the Durand Glacier. This ascent above the Valsorey Hut is the crux of the trip. The Durand glacier is then another long ski descent into one of the most remote parts of the Route
Day 7 From Chamrion we will ascend Pige du Arole for one of the best descents of the tour. The skiing ends at the Vignettes hut which is purched on a rock outcrop. Cliffs surround this hut on all sides but the one we approach on. The view is amazing.
Day 8 The ski to Zermat is justifiably one of the most famous ski mountaineering days in the world. Several ski runs are topped off with the final descent to Zermat. This final run snakes through icefalls and under the Matterhorn.
Day 9 and 10. The Classic Route ends in Zermat while the extended route uses lifts to our advantage and takes the next two days to traverse under the magnificent Monte Rosa prior to skiing down to Saas Fee.
